Prevalence of gastrointestinal parasites among primary school children in Bhaktapur, Nepal

Gastrointestinal parasitic infections are the most common and persistent caused by helminths protozoa mainly in developing countries like Nepal. The present study was conducted from September 2019 to June 2020 find out prevalence of gastrointestinal parasites among primary school children Bhaktapur District, A total 190 stool samples were collected examined microscopically sedimentation technique floatation technique. overall found be 16.84%. significantly higher (p<0.05) students public schools (29.23%) than private (10.40%). Similarly, boys (19.27%) sex-wise study, Muslim (33.33%) others vegetarian (30%) students. source drinking water parents’ education occupation also factors affecting rate (GIPs). revealed eight different types GIPs (Ascaris lumbricoides, Entamoeba coli, histolytica, Enterobius vermicularis, Giardia lamblia, Ancylostoma duodenale, Schistosoma mansoni, Taenia solium). Among them, lamblia (55.55%) dominant species. Efforts should focused on improving efficacy administering anthelminthic drugs.
